stefan 7schlaf ist wieder einmal einer jener künstler die sich nur über ihre arbeit erschliessen lassen, und über die es wenig biographische hinweise im netz gibt.
vorrangig definiert sich stefan am ehesten als remixer und produzent:
The approach to making music is always different.
I am pretty much into field recording and built up my personal sound archive over the years.
At the same time i like to play different instruments (melodica, harmonica, flute,...) in a kind of a half-assed way in order to create loops out of the recordings. Further more every sample found or taken is interesting.
Cut it, stick it, change it in time, space, mood - mutate it.
So i recruit for instance the stepping in the slush, a golden harmonica, a dusty xylophon, wine-glass-howl, pencil-scratch, ball-play, the groan from conceited ill, croaking doors... my surrounding field.
Suddenly the old frail plastic flute sounds like a moonily stringed instrument and tries to tell me something. That toothbrush, which falls into the cup, i give some echo and the wild chase through space is on.
Purged into an escapistic seeming world as a result of permanent walkman-consumption i just want to play and build up acusmatic dream worlds. Thus i let my mutants line up for that they tell their stories.
All their tales are attached -like a mobile- to a percussion-vehicle which sometimes reminds of grandfathers handcart loaded with old pendulum clocks.
The point is amusement - because that makes fun!

aber auch als DJ ist er aktiv - so zum beispiel wird er am 4. juni im solaris linz sein solaris debüt geben.
aber auch als video künstler wird er immer wieder aktiv.
und dann ist er auch noch beim kunstprojekt nomadenetappe beteiligt.
Sich dieser Tatsachen bewußt, nutzt die Atelier- und Galeriegemeinschaft nomadenetappe
Leerstände in zentraler Lage temporär als Arbeits-, Projekt- und Präsentationsräume.
Neben Atelierplätzen und einer Kleinwerkstatt betreibt nomadenetappe die als Offspace
geführte nomad_space Galerie, im Rahmen derer auch externen KünstlerInnen
die Möglichkeit geboten wird, sich abseits renommierter Kunst- und Kulturinstitutionen
in prominenter Lage zu präsentieren und auszustellen.
